The Templed Horizon- Grand Canyon Climbing

On Saturday and Sunday March 5-6, 2016 climbers, hikers, boaters, canyoneers and Grand Canyon history buffs will gather at the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff for the fourth annual Granitica Festival. The theme for 2016 is: The Templed Horizon- Grand Canyon Climbing and we will be examining the history of technical climbing in and around the Grand Canyon including the Vermilian Cliffs from 10 am to 6 pm. Extending back in time more than a half century to the present day, speakers will discuss the adventures and challenges involved in pioneering new routes on many of the beautiful and isolated summits and formations that make the Grand Canyon a unique and singular climbing destination. Come and hear about these remarkable exploits supported by historical imagery and meet the people involved. The Festival is organized and produced by Steve Grossman executive director of the North American Climbing History Archives (NACHA). The Museum of Northern Arizona is located at 3101 North Fort Valley Road 86001.
